I’m planning to do my masters in Australia and I have Bachelor’s from correspondence. However, my total marks are above 65%, my academics show some backlogs and 2-year gap in studies after 12th. Will this affect in getting admissions from Australian Universities?
1. Depends on the university through which you have completed your degree. If you have completed your degree from the University which has all the mandatory recognitions, then your degree will be globally valid.
2. The percentage for admission to Australian universities varies around 60% however people with a slightly less percentage may also get admission.
3. Backlogs can be supplemented with other things such as high GRE Score, IETS Score. I would also advise you to work on a personal note to explain the reason for your backlogs.
4. A gap year of one or two years is acceptable by most universities in Australia. Students take a year off after secondary school to prepare for government exams, JEE, or medical school. Gap can be accepted if is substantiated by strong sop with supporting documents.
Some of the universities accepts distance education from India provided the university from where you have completed bachelors is recognized.
Minimum entry requirement is different for different universities. It is advisable to check the requirement of chosen universities to be more clear.
Backlogs and gap can be justified through strong personal statement stating reason for backlogs along with backlog certificate. If you had any medical issues, you can furnish the same in support of your justification.
Backlogs and gap do affect your application but they can be justified through strong profile, personal statement and supporting documents. Make sure to write a strong statement of purpose stating the reason for academics, gaps and backlogs.
